Star Gazing
Hi guys,
Here in France the warm summer sun has also departed, the nights are drawing in and the cold wind is whipping across the fields! Great advantage can be taken from the little light pollution here in rural France, the night sky is unbelievable! The clear cold skies allow for plenty of star gazing if you wrap up warm. My article writing on astronomy has enabled me to show off my newly learnt information, locating the positions of the stars such as Polaris, Orion’s belt and of course the all to familiar Large Dipper or Plough.
I didn’t realise there were so many stars, as your eyes become accustomed to the darkness more and more stars seem to appear, although logically I knew they were there, being able to see them in such vast quantities is a great thrill for me. Satellites orbit overhead and can easily be picked out by their projection and constant speed. The winter’s night sky is spelling binding, at the moment I’m still at the astronomy for kids stage simply enjoying being able to actually name a few stars, maybe I’ll buy a telescope and take this fascinating subject to the next stage!
